Polara's Approach

CUSTOM AND STANDARD PRODUCTS 

Although Polara's primary thrust has been in custom-designed products that meet its customers unique requirements, many of Polara's designs have resulted in standard products of high quality, produced with a skill and economy that permits very competitive pricing. Polara offers its own line of custom and standard products which include passive and active delay lines of several types, pulse transformers, inductors, various magnetic devices, LC filters, converters, and other special components and subsystems.  

COMMERCIAL AND MILITARY APPLICATIONS 

Polara's products are used in a broad range of commercial and military applications, including both large and small computer systems, avionics equipment, communications systems and equipment, FLIR command and control systems, radars and sonars, and advanced medical electronic equipment. 

ENGINEERING EXPERTISE  

From top management down, Polara is engineering-oriented. Our engineering staff has well over 100 years of combined experience in electronic design techniques and related mechanical design technology. In engineering new products, Polara has consistently been willing to tackle problems that pushed the state of the art. Sometimes this entailed meeting a difficult electronic criterion such as a delay time, a pulse shape, or a Q requirement. On other occasions the challenge was to produce an especially small or particularly low profile package. Through all these engineering challenges, Polara has emphasized the creative side of engineering to turn our customers' technical problems into clear-cut, functional solutions, implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner.

INDUSTRY INNOVATOR  

Among other industry innovations, Polara pioneered the present low-cost, industry standard DIP delay lines, using transfer-molded, epoxy/powdered iron coil forms. Recently we have developed micro-miniature air coils and surface mount low profile inductors and transformers.     

COST EFFECTIVE PRODUCTS  

While Polara's custom products tend to emphasize the creative side of the firm's engineering capabilities, standard products display our concern for cost effectiveness. Polara's standard products actually embody much the same technologies as the custom ones, except that production has been systematized or automated to make the prices as attractive as possible to the customer.

MILITARY CAPABILITIES

Since its inception, Polara has served military programs. The avionics systems of the F104, F111 and F16; the Maverick missile IR guidance system; the M-1 tank fire control system; the Harpoon Missile; the Cruise missile guidance system - these are just a few of the military programs for which Polara has supplied electromagnetic products of the highest quality and reliability.
